This World Backup Day we are proud to share our newest infrastructure project: a second hosting location, deep underground in a former Cold War bunker just a stone’s throw from Hazerswoude-Dorp.
This unique site — internally known as Bunker Harde Hosting — offers a surprising number of benefits:
- Constant temperature and humidity without active cooling
- Concrete walls almost a metre thick for physical security and uptime
- Shielded from above-ground risks such as power outages and fibre cuts
- Probably EMP resistant 😉
The bunker was originally built for critical communications during crises, but it turns out to be a perfect fit for a data centre as well. We have reconfigured part of the space for energy-efficient servers and off-site backups, further strengthening our commitment to sustainability and continuity.
The coffee on-site is, unfortunately, questionable and expired sometime in 1989.
We are finalising the preparations — the uplink is almost ready. We will soon share more photos from inside the bunker along with a layout of the setup.
For now, enjoy a first impression through the images above.
Happy World Backup Day!
